The 40-metre class runs from 115 to 145 feet (35 to 44 metres). At this size most Riviera listings carry a crew of 7 or 8, while still taking the same 10 or 12 guests as a smaller boat. We list 22 yachts in this band whose listings name the French Riviera among their summer cruising areas: 15 motor yachts and 7 sailing yachts.
Below are 10 of them, one per shipyard, picked to show the range rather than to crown a best boat. Three are listed at Riviera or Monaco ports (two in Cannes, one in Monaco), two only as South of France, and two on the Italian Riviera. The countdown runs from #10, the shortest at 115 feet, up to #1, the longest at 140 feet, ranked by the length on each listing. The ten span 115 to 140 feet: BLISS (144 feet, Heesen) and GRANDE AMORE (145 feet, Benetti) are in the class but not in the ten, because their yards are already represented. Specs and rates come from each yacht’s current listing, as listed in September 2026, and each “from” rate is the lowest weekly charter fee on that listing’s rate box, before running expenses.
What 115 to 145 Feet Gets You on the Riviera
Guests. Ten guests is the most common figure among the 22 Riviera listings in this band (10 yachts), then 12 (6 yachts). Most charter yachts are limited to 12 guests, whatever their size, so the extra length buys space rather than berths; see where more than 12 guests actually works.
Cabins and crew. Five cabins is the norm (11 of the 22), with six or four cabins on five yachts each. Where the listing gives a crew count, it is most often 7, then 8.
Who builds them. Benetti has the most yachts in the band here, three, and Heesen two; the rest are single yachts from yards across Italy, the Netherlands, Britain and Turkey, including CRN, Perini Navi, Sanlorenzo, Feadship and Baglietto.
What it costs. Counting each listing’s lowest weekly rate, the 21 euro-priced yachts run from €33,000 per week, a sailing yacht, to €225,000 per week, with a median of about €100,000 per week. The three cheapest are all sailing yachts. The ten below start from €66,000 per week up to €225,000 per week.

What a Week Costs Before VAT
The rates above are charter fees only. Fuel, food and marina fees come out of an advance provisioning allowance (APA) paid on top, 35 percent on most of these listings. The APA is a deposit against those expenses, and whatever is not spent is returned after the charter. On SUI GENERIS, a week from €225,000 per week comes to €303,750 per week with APA; on EVEREAST’s listing, a high-season fee from €120,000 per week plus 35 percent APA comes to €162,000 per week, before VAT. VAT is added depending on where the charter starts and ends; this article quotes no VAT figure. The crew gratuity is at your discretion. Ask us for the all-in figure for your week.
Choosing Within the Class
A few rules of thumb from the listings. Need 12 guests: IRAMA is the only one of the ten that takes them. Want speed: AURELIA cruises at 28 knots. Want a sailing yacht: ELLEN. Want the newest: SUI GENERIS, built in 2026. Then decide where you want to board: EVEREAST and TITIAN PEARL are listed in Cannes, ALLURIA in Monaco, UNIQUE S and AURELIA in the South of France without a named port, IRAMA at Ventimiglia with a South of France summer, and KATHLEEN ANNE at Imperia on the Italian Riviera. FIORENTE’s listing offers her in the South of France, Italy, Corsica and Sardinia, and the ELLEN and SUI GENERIS listings do not give a base; we confirm on enquiry. Then decide on pace: AURELIA cruises at 28 knots, while most of the others cruise at 10 to 15. For Corsica, which lies to the southeast, FIORENTE and IRAMA name it on their listings.
