With its crystal-clear waters, idyllic beaches, and world-class events like the Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix, Nice is the perfect destination for those looking to indulge in the luxury and exclusivity of a yacht charter. The light and vivid colors of the sea have always been a source of inspiration for artists. Chagall and Matisse actually have their museums here. In previous eras, Nice was the southern haven for affluent patrons from all over Europe. Otherwise, Nice is known for flowers, which are reasonably priced in this, overall pricier city. The abundance of flowers allowed the rise of the perfume industry, namely the Molinard family.
Don’t skip a walk around the Promenade des Anglais.
Villefrance
Villefranche has a beautiful harbor with an interesting history. The area was often looted by pirates and the local population moved higher up the hill. In order to encourage the people to move back down the to city, a tax-free (franche) town (ville) was created, protected by the citadel.
Located just a few miles east of Nice, with its charming old-world atmosphere and picturesque harbor, it makes an idyllic location for those looking to explore the French Riviera by sea.
Some of the biggest yachts anchor here. Some of the most expensive properties in France are located between Villefranche and Monaco. The town is down to earth and feels Italian.
Cap Ferrat
Cap Ferrat is an extremely exclusive, mostly residential community that fills a park-like peninsula with a hidden little beach and the wonderful port of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. With its stunning natural beauty, luxurious villas, and celebrity residents, Cap Ferrat is the epitome of glamor and exclusivity. As you sail along the coast, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the Mediterranean and the town’s stunning villas, many of which are owned by the rich and famous. Visit the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, a lavish Belle Époque villa of baroness Rothschild that took 10 architects to complete. The garden includes an English garden, a Gothic garden, and a Japanese garden.
Whether you’re looking for a relaxing getaway or an unforgettable adventure, a yacht charter in Cap Ferrat is the ultimate way to experience the luxury and elegance of the French Riviera.
Eze
Eze is a quaint medieval village renowned for its stunning views and historical charm. Perched atop cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, Eze offers a serene and picturesque setting for those embarking on a luxury yacht charter.
The village’s narrow cobblestone streets wind their way through ancient stone buildings, creating an atmosphere of timeless beauty and tranquility. Visitors can explore Eze’s historic landmarks, such as the 12th-century Chapelle de la Sainte Croix and the Jardin Exotique, which offer panoramic views of the coastline.
Eze also offers a selection of upscale restaurants and cafes, where guests can indulge in delicious Mediterranean cuisine while taking in the breathtaking scenery. For those seeking relaxation, the village offers several spas and wellness centers, providing an opportunity to unwind and rejuvenate amidst the natural beauty of the French Riviera.
A touristy but magnificent village of art and gastronomy, ideal for a scenic dinner with commanding riviera views.
Monaco
One of the smallest countries in the world with no income tax or a formal border. The historically defining moment occurred when the prince decided to build a casino and secure a train line along the Riviera. Luxury high-rise condos, casinos, yachts, and superb food are the main attractions, as well as the famous Grand Prix car races. Try the roulette at Casino Monte-Carlo or get a bank account in one of the local banks (prior arrangements might be required), but definitely don’t miss the changing of the guards.
In addition to its stunning harbor, Monaco is home to a number of world-class museums, art galleries, and restaurants, making it a great destination for culture enthusiasts.
Cannes
Known mainly for the Cannes film festival, a sister city of Beverly Hills. Not much to tour in Cannes, but perfect for shopping, lounging, and strolling. Skip the public beach and get a comfortable lounger on one of the private beaches.
In addition to its film festival, Cannes has plenty of other things to do. You can visit the old quarter of Le Suquet, take a guided tour through town with a local guide before stopping for lunch, and of course, sail to Lérins Islands for privacy and ultimate relaxation.
Antibes
A down-to-earth town and a yacht charter paradise, this medieval town with ramparts and towers was popular in the 20s, with Rudolf Valentino and Charlie Chaplin partying hard. Picasso famously moved to Antibes with his 23-year-old girlfriend at the time to seek creativity.
The town’s beautiful harbor, known as Port Vauban, is one of the largest in Europe and is home to a large number of luxury yachts and boats. In addition to its stunning natural setting, Antibes is home to a number of cultural attractions, including the Picasso Museum, which showcases the work of the famous artist, and the historic Fort Carré, which offers panoramic views of the town and the surrounding area.
